Traffic on Interstate 20 west was blocked for more than an hour Wednesday morning due to an overturned tractor trailer. The accident occurred at mile marker 99 in Newton County between Hazelbrand Road and Ga. Highway 11 around 7:30 a.m.

According to Newton County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer 1st Lt. Mark Mitchell, the driver of the tractor trailer side-swiped a passenger car and the tractor trailer overturned. The two people involved sustained minor injuries. No charges have been filed and the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
