An 18-year-old man remains in critical after an early morning party Saturday ended in gunfire.

Newton County Sheriff's Office deputies were called at 2:15 a.m. to a Harville Road address, where they found a party under way at "the barn", an area where people "go to hang out and party," according to sheriff's office public information officer Lt. Tyrone Oliver.

Witnesses said an argument took place between 28-year-old Cedric Hill, Charles Devoes, 21 and 25-year-old Lorenzo Shipley and two other men. Hill and Devoes brandished weapons and Hill fired his gun, striking a 27-year-old male once in the torso and an 18-year-old male twice in the torso. He fled with Devoes and Shipley.

The three were caught later that night, thanks to anonymous tips, at an Atlanta hotel.

All three remained Tuesday in the Newton County Detention Center. Hill is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Devoes is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and Shipley is charged with party to a crime.

Both shooting victims were transported to Atlanta hospitals. The 27-year-old was treated and released but the 18-year-old remains in treatment.
