Trash becomes treasure in Porterdale
Placeholder Image

Trash, in the hands of artists, really can become treasure. The evidence is an impressive welded art piece, made entirely of discarded items, that now stands sentinel at Oconee Metal Recovery, serving as a kind of gateway to Porterdale. The finished piece was unveiled Oct. 31. From left to right in the middle, Porterdale Mayor Arline Chapman, artists Don Trout and Carol Veliotis, and a representative from Oconee Metal Recovery.
