In brief: The Covington-Newton County Welcome Center had 2,431 visitors pass through its doors in September, a 28 percent increase from last year, according to Hunter Hall, president of the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce. Visitors came from 29 states and Australia, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, the Netherlands and Tasmania.
