A tornado watch has been issued for Newton and Rockdale counties and much of metro Atlanta until 3 a.m.
A watch means that conditions are favorable for formation of a tornado. The National Weather Service in its watch bulletin notes that the system approaching the area is similar to the front that slammed Georgia a week ago.
At 9: 30 p.m., National Weather Service radar indicates that a line of storms has crossed into extreme northwest Georgia and extends southwest into Alabama. There's a 70 percent chance of rain tonight, then a 60 percent chance or rain before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The low tonight should be 57, followed with a more seasonal high of 72 on Tuesday.
Expect bountiful sun Wednesday and Thursday with a high of 76 on Wednesday and 78 on Thursday, followed with a 40 percent chance of thunderstoms on Friday and a high of 75.
