Miranda Brunn, 11, a regular volunteer at the Covington Manor Nursing Home, decided to go an extra step this year to help the elderly. The Oak Hill fifth grader decided to give all 73 residents of the nursing home a lap throw for Christmas. She started Throws of Love, a nonprofit organization, and sought donations through the community in order to provide a gift to all the residents. Miranda dressed as an elf (with her mother as Santa Claus) and delivered the throws. Her goal is to expand the nonprofit to include more nursing homes next year.
