Three Covington teens are currently being charged with two separate rapes that occurred last week.
In the first case, the mother of a 13-year-old girl called police on July 1, around 7 p.m., and reported that her daughter had just been sexually assaulted in the area of Magnolia Heights apartments.
The mother told officers that the incident had occurred in a wooded area near the apartment building. She said she was told by another juvenile that an assault was occurring on her daughter, and she ran to the area, where she found her daughter and two juvenile males who were participating in the assault.
She was able to fight off one of the juvenile males and both ran away.
Officers were able to quickly identify the two males, each 16-years-old, and place them in custody, charging them both with rape, aggravated child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Both are being held in a youth detention facility.
The second reported rape occurred around 10:45 p.m. on July 4, in the area of Green Acres Drive.
CPD officers were called to assist an 18-year-old woman, who said that an unknown man assaulted her behind a vacant residence on Green Acres Drive.
The alleged rapist was quickly identified as a 14-year-old male. He was charged with rape and is currently being held in a youth detention facility.
