Three men were arrested Thursday for the beating and armed robbery of another man on Cowan Road.

According to Newton County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Cortney Morrison, deputies were called to a mobile home park on Cowen Road and found the 42-year-old victim sitting in the yard and bleeding from the head.

The victim allegedly told deputies that three men, 18-year-old Austin Shane McNutt, 21-year-old Thomas Dean Smith and 25-year-old William Lee Suits lured him to an undeveloped neighborhood next door to the trailer park, beat him with a pipe and robbed him.

Morrison said the victim was bleeding from the forehead (above his nose), his arm was injured, his left eye was swollen shut and he was complaining of pain in his ribs. He was able to identify the three men and they were all arrested in the mobile home park. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

McNutt, Smith and Suits were transported to the Newton County Detention Center where they remain, charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery/intimidation.
