Three people have been arrested in connection to the armed robbery that occurred at the Almon Road Chevron on Saturday, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).
Jessie Glover, 28, Jazten Dawson, 21, and Henrietta Glover, 26, were arrested in Hancock County.
According to the NCSO, a black male entered the Chevron demanding money around 9 a.m Saturday. The suspect then struck the male clerk in the head multiple times with a hammer before taking the cash register and fleeing the store on foot.
The suspect then drove on Interstate-20 eastbound in a white pick up truck. The clerk was taken to a local hospital with head trauma. According to the NCSO, there was a child under the age of 1 in the vehicle during the incident.
Newton County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Crime Scene Unit arrived on-scene to collect evidence and began interviewing witnesses. After receiving detailed descriptions from witnesses, investigators obtained the tag number of the vehicle seen leaving the area.
During a thorough investigation, investigators identified and arrested the three suspects within hours of the incident.
All three were charged with Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children 3rd degree and Armed Robbery.
