The Great American Cleanup

Cleanup crew: Members throughout the community participated in The Great American Cleanup on Saturday, March 27, sponsored by Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful. Participating groups took to the streets, rivers and forests of Newton County, picking up any trash or other rubbish they could find.

A group begins their expedition at the Kroger on Ga. Highway 278. (L-R): Front: Charlotte Johnson, Joyce Lancaster and Wayne Vincoli. Back: Margie Bowers, Katie Bullington, Manny Merryfield, Faith Merryfield, Kayla Gartner, Kacie Gartner, Kara Gartner, William Gartner, Sandra Gartner and Kirsten Wells.

These bags of trash, among other things, were collected at and around the Covington Square.

The Morgan family and the Edgar family piled into a pickup truck to track down trash. Any group interested in going on a cleaning expedition should contact KCNB at www.kcnb.biz.
