Appreciation: The Covington Elks lodge 1806 PER Association provided a Law Enforcement Officer Appreciation Breakfast in July for 60 officers at the Lodge. Deputy Sheriff Anthony Washington shown here with his wife and children was awarded by PER Larry Capes, a Certificate of Appreciation for his hard work in the county by the association. A delicious breakfast was cooked and served with some good fellowship which was enjoyed by the Elks and the officers. The Elks are very supportive of all law enforcement groups in the county. They provided money to help pay for a safety vest last year for the Newton County Sheriff’s Office
