Investigators are still searching for leads in the death of 29-year-old Wendell Ronard Barber whose body was found last week in woods off Piper Road.

Barber, also known as Pumpkin or P, was last seen on Sept. 21 in College Park. His body was found by a hunter on the evening of Sept. 28. Investigators believe he had been dead at least five days when the body was found.

Newton County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Tyrone Oliver said Tuesday that Barber had no known ties to Newton County. Cause of death has yet to be released and Barber’s body remained at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab as of press time.
