The SunCrest Healthcare family, based out of Madison, Tenn., joined together to hold a Soup for Seniors soup drive this December. For the past month, more than 70 branch locations collected canned soups, along with other canned goods and boxed items that can be used to make soup, such as noodles, canned vegetables, beans and broth.
The Covington branch partnered with local physician's offices to collect the soup goods and help support their local community during this holiday season. They collected more than 500 pounds of non-perishable food that were donated to a local food pantry.
For older adults, proper eating habits are essential to their health and well-being. The benefits of healthy eating include increased mental acuteness, resistance to illness and disease, higher energy levels, faster recuperation times and better management of chronic health problems.
Although older adults typically require fewer calories on a daily basis because they are not as physically active, their bodies still require the same or higher level of nutrients in order to obtain optimal health outcomes.
SunCrest Healthcare, which is represented in nine states, said they are honored to help those who are less fortunate and give thanks back to the community.
