Newton County School Superintendent Samantha Fuhrey is launching a new, Superintendents Student Advisory Council, which will be comprised of current Newton County School System students in the seventh through 12th grades.
Student members will serve as advisers and act as liaisons between the Newton County School System Central Office and the students of NCSS.
The Student Advisory Council will meet twice during the school year with Superintendent Fuhrey to discuss how decisions made at the district level are affecting students throughout the county.
"I believe it is truly important that we reach out to our students to get their input on what we are doing right and what we can improve," Fuhrey said. "As a result, I’m looking for NCSS students willing and interested in serving on my Student Advisory Council."
All students in grades 7–12 are eligible to apply. Meeting dates will be announced later,.
Students interested in applying to be on the council should complete the Student Advisory Council application and submit it by Sept. 27 to Sherri Davis-Viniard, Director of Public Relations, at 2109 Newton Drive NE, Covington, GA 30014.
