The spring weather roller coaster continues today, with the National Weather Service calling for a 70 percent chance of strong to severe storms this afternoon in Newton County.
Damaging wind, large hail and lightning are possible in the storms, with the greatest risk north of a line from Columbus through Washington, Ga. The greatest threat of storms will occur between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation tonight. Click here for the forecast.
Storms may be triggered as a cold front moves into the state and becomes stationary.
The high today should be 81 degrees. Forecasters are calling for a high in the upper 70s for Thursday and Friday, and a high of 86 for Saturday and of 85 for Sunday.
There is also a chance of thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday and again on Monday and Tuesday.
