SWAINSBORO, Ga. (AP) — Sheriff's officials say a couple has been arrested after a 4-month-old girl in their care was found unresponsive.

Emanuel County Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens says Robert Benton and Melissa Fullmore called authorities when they awoke from a nap and found Rosalynn Fullmore unresponsive in her bassinette Tuesday. The girl was later pronounced dead.

Stephens says investigators found that Benton and Fullmore used methamphetamine Tuesday morning and found the girl unresponsive when they woke up.

When they searched the home, investigators found suspected marijuana, methamphetamine and a handgun.

Stephens says Benton and Fullmore are being held without bond in the county jail on drug and weapons charges. An autopsy is being performed on the child and Stephens says additional charges may be filed.

It's unclear if the two have lawyers.
