A Covington woman arrived home Tuesday evening and found her ex-husband’s car in her driveway and a window in her home broken out. She contacted the Covington Police Department at 5:30 p.m. to report the incident.

After a stand-off that began around 6 p.m., members of the Covington/Newton County SWAT Team entered the home and found 46-year-old Gary Darby of Berryville, Va., dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
