A fight between father and son ended in bloodshed Wednesday evening after the son allegedly hit his father in the head with a candlestick.
According to reports from the Newton County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home on Airport Road. When they arrived deputies saw Perry Winning laying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood.
Officers spoke with Winning's son who told them an argument began when he found out his father had sold one of the son's vehicles. During that argument Winning reportedly threw a soda can at his son, but missed, and struck Winning's wife in the hip instead. When the son began laughing, Winning attacked, according to reports.
Winning allegedly jumped on his son, wrestled him to the couch and placed him in a headlock. When his mother pulled Winning off their son, Winning allegedly went into the kitchen area where the fighting continued and struck his son in the mouth, busting his lip. It was at this point that the son smacked his father over the head with a candlestick.
After hearing all sides of the story, Perry Winning was arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center where he was charged with Family Violence Act battery.
