The Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources is pleased to announce that the city of Social Circle is Georgia’s 84th Certified Local Government, confirmed by the U.S. Department of Interior in late December 2012.

The city passed a local historic preservation ordinance in 2004 and has a fully appointed citizen board serving as its historic preservation commission. The HPC has participated in statewide training and continues to encourage the preservation education of its members, as well as the larger community.

“Our city is proud of its designation as a Certified Local Government,” said Mayor Hal Dally.
“We all want to return to a vibrant downtown with quality of life enhancements.”
