The Social Circle City Council agreed to approve a Special Local Option Sales Tax document, but refrain from voting on the disbursement of payment until the language of the document can be agreed on with Loganville.
The council met on Tuesday. City Manager Doug White explained to the mayor and council that although the SPLOST agreement with the 2012 SPLOST has been presented for approval, the city of Loganville had voiced their disapproval with the method of dispersing the money.
Typically, as the funds come in, they are placed directly into an account set up by the city, negating the requirements to make draws for the money.
However, until the language is approved by everyone involved, White recommended that the council approve the document as presented and authorize Mayor Jim Burgess to sign it once the language regarding the disbursement of payment was resolved. The council agreed to do so unanimously.
