Snapping Shoals EMC has donated $10,000 to the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce to be used for economic development.

The money comes from Snapping Shoals’ unclaimed capital credit fund, which the company uses to support area nonprofits.

Capital credits are the revenues collected over and above the cost of providing service. As a non-profit itself, Snapping Shoals must refund these revenues to its customer-owners, and any unclaimed credits are then used for scholarships, grants and economic and community development projects.
