The Society of St. Vincent de Paul members have been preparing for a Silent Auction and Wine Tasting (wine provided by local Fox Winery) which will be held Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church's Moore Hall at 7 p.m. There are 130 bid sheets with one to several items on each sheet.
Members from the local community and beyond have overwhelmingly donated to this cause and there will be a diverse selection of items to bid on. The silent auction will benefit The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in supporting its mission to help people in Newton County. The members visit those in need and evaluate how they might be able to help each individual according to their unique temporary circumstance. The idea is to try to help people help themselves so they may become more independent. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a 501(c)(3) organization, is celebrating 175 years of service around the world. Cash or check will be accepted at the auction.
