An unknown person or persons may have been using the Newton County Senior Services bus for shelter during the last two weeks, according to a report to the Covington Police Department (CPD) Monday.

The CPD received a call after the bus driver returned from a two-week Christmas break and discovered food wrappers in the bus. According to reports, entry was made, possibly by breaking the back door open.

“It appears the suspect(s) were using the bus for shelter,” the CPD report said.

The bus, which remains parked in the upper parking lot of the Senior Services Center at 6183 Turner Lake Road, was left with the back door open.
