He’s our angry man

A Covington man was arrested Monday afternoon after refusing to leave a residence on Thompson Avenue and then fighting with the police.

When officers arrived they found a woman and Alton Gregory Lee on the front porch of a home arguing. After speaking with the two it was discovered the argument was a carry-over from the night before. When Lee had come to the home Monday, the woman told him he was not welcome there; however Lee refused to leave, according to reports.

As officers were talking to the two, several other family members came out of the home and made it clear that they did not want Lee to leave because he had not been causing a problem, and they were fine with him waiting there for a ride. While officers spoke with the family members, Lee would reportedly begin cursing and stepping close to the women who had asked him to leave.

Eventually the homeowner said he would take Lee home, but when he went inside to get his shoes, Lee once again began arguing with the woman. Police attempted to pull Lee from the home at which point he reportedly punched the officer, and then wrestled with him, causing the two of them to fall over the front porch and onto the muddy ground.

Several people, approximately 20 according to reports, from the home appeared to be angry and were gathering around the officer. He called for backup and, once backup arrived, was able to use a Taser on Lee and arrest him for obstructing a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.

Three others were arrested from the home for failing to comply with the officer’s commands. Jimmy Upton was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and disorderly house, Terry Anthonio Upton and Latonya Upton were both arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
