Alcovy: 462 (unchanged) in reading; 456 (+2) math; 449 (-2) writing

Eastside: 492 (+18) reading; 479 (+18) math; 474 (+13) writing

Newton: 447 (-16) reading; 434 (-17) math; 437 (-20) writing

 

 

SAT scores for high school students in Newton County and in Georgia showed a slight decline in 2010, according to data released today.

Newton County School System students posted a three-point drop in reading to 464; a two-point decline in math to 453; and a five-point drop in writing scores to 451, according to a school system release.

Statewide, students posted a two-point decline in reading (488); a 1-point loss in math (490), and a four-point drop in writing (475). The national average remained unchanged in reading at 501; gained 1 point in math to 516; and dropped one point to 492 in reading.

Overall, there were 131 more students taking the test in 2010 in Newton County.
