With all 19 Rockdale County precints reporting, Rockdale County citizens passed the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

The tax measure passed with 57 percent of the vote, by a margin of 789 votes.

The E-SPLOST, which would collect one penny for every retail dollar spent in the county, is projected to collect $83.6 million over five years and would be Rockdale's fourth E-SPLOST. Previous E-SPLOSTs  have paid off the school system's bond debt, helped build a new CJ Hicks Elementary School and a significant part of Rockdale Career Academy, repair school buildings, purchase new school busses and more.
