The Friends of Porterdale, city of Porterdale and Porterdale Woman’s Club invite everyone to attend the 2008 Porterdale Reunion/Festival which will be held Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the city of Porterdale. Everyone is invited to "come cross the bridge from the past to the future and help Porterdale come alive again," by renewing old friendships, making and meeting new friends, enjoying food, arts and crafts and activities for children and bringing their Porterdale memorabilia for everyone to see. It is not required that attendees be past or present residents of Porterdale to attend. Everyone is invited to come and see what is happening in the Mill Village. Registration begins at 10 a.m. in front of the Mill Lofts. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Darrell Huckaby will autograph his new book "A Southerner Looks at all 50." Memorial bricks will be in place in the alleyway between the two old store buildings thanks to "Homes by the Hills." Smiley’s, Jimbo’s, Baby Cakes, Tattersalls at the Mill, The Porterdale Seafood Market, CorkPoppers and the Barber Shop will all be open for business.
