A hike in water and sewer rates gets a third and final reading and a public hearing when the Porterdale City Council meets at 6:30 tonight.

Rates will rise for water and sewer about $3.48 cents a month for the average household customer who uses 6,000 gallons a month.

Other items on the agenda include the authorization to execute health insurance contracts for city workers - which could result in an increase in taxes to increase the city's revenue - a discussion of pit bulls and other vicious dog breeds and a resolution on a tax anticipation note.

The note is designed to provide the city with money until tax revenue starts to come in during the fall. Last year's note totaled $100,000.
