What started out as a chase in Newton County ended on Interstate 20 around 5:45 a.m. this morning.

A vehicle driven by alleged burglary suspect Thaddeus Anderson of Atlanta spun out of control while on the interstate in DeKalb County after troopers from the Georgia State Patrol performed the pit maneuver on his car.

Around 5 a.m., deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Pony Express gas station at Ga. Highway 11 after witnesses called reporting a burglary. A suspect was located and a vehicle chase ensued. The driver fled into Rockdale County and then into DeKalb.

The vehicle came to a stop around Gresham Road, Anderson was taken into custody but a passenger jumped out of the truck and ran, according to GSP Lt. Paul Cosper. Inside the truck troopers reportedly found cartons of cigarettes and other items apparently taken during burglaries.
