The Newton County School System Work-Based Learning (WBL) programs at Alcovy, Eastside, and Newton high schools, and Newton College and Career Academy named Piedmont Newton its WBL Employer of the Year for 2016 Tuesday.

Among its support for of the Newton County School System (NCSS), Piedmont Newton hospital offers job shadowing and internships for WBL students. Each summer, the hospital allows students to job shadow in various departments through its Summer Junior Volunteer Program.

Piedmont Newton employees, who sit on NCSS’s district-wide CTAE Advisory Committee and the career academy’s Healthcare Advisory Committee, also participate in the annual career expo and have offered to assist with school blood drives.

Because of their dedication and internship opportunities for students, NCSS’s WBL named Piedmont Newton Hospital its 2016 Employer of the Year.
