Pedestrian killed identified

The pedestrian hit and killed this morning has been identified as 59-year-old Shirley Ann Reid.

According to Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol, Reid was crossing the road at U.S. Highway 278 and West Street around 5:30 a.m., when she was struck by a Nissan Titan pickup that was traveling west.

The 56-year-old driver of the truck had the right-of-way, and no charges are pending against him.
