Your State Parks Day

The Friends Groups at state parks will hold Your State Parks Day on Sept. 28 at Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge.

The event will include clearing of hiking trails and a cleanup of the playground area. Lunch will be provided, along with T-shirts and other prizes. To sign up, call the park office at 706-557-3001.

Sounds of Hope

The Newton County Hospital Auxiliary will present a concert at Covington Square Park from 4–6 p.m. Sept. 29 to promote breast cancer awareness and the Hope Boutique at Newton Medical Center.

Contractors for Georgia DOT say the flagging operation originally planned for Tuesday and Wednesday has been rescheduled for Thursday and Friday, weather permitting, on State Route 212 in Newton County, at mile marker 1-2. Motorists are asked to use caution, reduce speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions.
