'Awesome Autumn'

Georgia Perimeter College is sponsoring an "Awesome Autumn" Open House on the GPC Newton Campus, from 10 a.m–1 p.m.  Oct. 19.

GPC has expanded its student open house to make this an event for the entire family. The day will include refreshments, games, a softball tournament and local vendors. New students can receive a GPC application fee waiver, and there will be campus tours and information about college majors, campus life and student success services. Benefit ride

"Riding with LOVE for Lucas,’’ a motorcycle ride to benefit 14-month-old leukemia patient Lucas Cronan, will be held Oct. 12. Lucas’ mom, Jessica Wyatt, is a single mom and a teacher at Newton County Theme School at Ficquett in Covington. The ride will start and end at Jimbo’s Grill at the Mill in Porterdale. Bike registration will begin at 9 a.m., and the cost will be $10 per bike and $5 for an additional rider.
