Newton County Senior Services is the proud recipient of a new shuttle bus that will soon hit the road to transport senior residents to and from the center.
“Senior Services extends its sincere gratitude to the Newton County Board of Commissioners for including this vehicle in the 2016 budget and recognizing the need for a safer, cost efficient vehicle to transport our senior residents,” Senior Services Executive Director Josephine Brown said. “I know our seniors appreciate the new shuttle bus too.”
The 18-passenger Goshen Ford E-450 bus replaces an aging 8-passenger transport bus that is more than 15 years old. The new shuttle bus will also reduce costly repairs and maintenance performed on the aging transport vehicles. The cost of the new shuttle bus is $54,611.
Senior Services will use the new bus to transport senior residents to and from the center and on special day trips and outings.
