Newborn resident Dana Massey, 38, was killed on Ga. Highway 142 this morning after hitting a deer, losing control of her vehicle and then striking two trees, said Newton County Sheriff Sgt. Michael Cunningham.

Massey was driving a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer and traveling northbound on Ga. 142 around 7 a.m. before
wrecking near Eastridge Community Church, Cunningham said.

The call came in from a passerby and Massey was declared dead on scene, Cunningham said; no one else was
in the vehicle.

Massey leaves behind a husband and two children. Several people on Facebook remembered Massey as a positive,
caring person.
“My heart is broken! She was such a sweet lady and amazing mother. I will miss seeing her face at Storm Elite
every Tuesday. Praying for her husband and children,” Kristie Alexander Cook said on The News’ Facebook wall.

According to Massey’s Facebook page, she was a graduate of Loganville High School and worked at Georgia
Eye Associates.

“I used to work in the same building as Dana. She was a very sweet person that would always be there to make
you laugh and lend a hand when you needed it. This is very saddening to my heart to hear this,” Stephanie Fuller
Dean said. “I used to live beside her for many years. She is the most amazing person wife mother and friend. Always had a positive attitude; always made you laugh. She will be so missed,” Inger Beth Hooks-Helms said.
