New poll: District 3 BOC Democrats

Next up in our primary election poll series is the Democratic race for the District 3 board of commissioners seat between incumbent Nancy Schulz and Tony Flanagan. Who will you vote for? Vote here.

Results from Repbulican District 1 board of commissioners poll

The News asked its readers to vote on the race for the Republican nomination for the District 1 board of commissioners seat, and John Strauss captured the majority of those votes more than doubling the number received by opponent John Douglas.

Out of the 176 people who said they would vote in the race, 67.6 percent voted for Strauss compared to 32.4 for Douglas. The poll is completely unscientific.

The race was one of the most heated during a recent forum put on by The News and Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce, as both candidates criticized the answers of the other. You can read about and watch their answers at CovNews.com.

Because no Democratic candidate is running for the District 1 seat, whichever Republican wins in the primary will be the next commissioner, replacing three-term Republican Commissioner Mort Ewing.
