The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault on a teenager by a group of boys. The incident occurred Sunday evening in the Ellington Community.

Deputies from the NCSO were called to a home in the community around 7:30 p.m. They met with the 17-year-old victim’s mother, who reportedly told them a group of boys had attacked her son and pulled a gun on him.

According to reports, the victim was walking along Greenway Drive when a truck stopped and a group of boys jumped out and began beating him. During the assault, one of the boys allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, while another boy in the group told him to put the gun away.

The victim allegedly recognized one boy in the group as a student from school, but did not know the other boys.

The victim suffered a cut over one eye and a swollen lip.
