The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the abduction of a 61-year-old woman from a shopping center on the southwest side of the county.
Brenda Thompson was sitting in her car, waiting outside while her husband went into the Kroger Pharmacy on Highway 20 to get her prescriptions. They had just returned from Thompson’s dialysis treatments.
The keys were left in the ignition.
Upon returning, he discovered the car, a gray 4-door Lincoln MKZ, Georgia tags TKM559, was gone with Thompson still inside.
According to Sheriff’s Deputy Felicia Jefferson, Thompson suffers from extensive medical conditions. She is on constant oxygen and was on the last canister when the car was taken. She is 4-foot, 11-inches tall and weighs 70 pounds. She was last seen wearing black pants with a towel and jacket.
“She is in very fragile condition,” Jefferson said. “A medical alert has been issued statewide.”
