The Newton County Sheriff’s Office will hold two fundraisers Saturday to raise money for their K-9 deputies.

Following a recent fundraiser at Bell’s Grocery where $421 was raised for the K-9’s, the NCSO will hold two more fundraisers simultaneously Saturday, both from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., one at the Walmart Supercenter on Salem Road and the other at Kroger on Ga. Highway 20. Donations of $5 will enter participants into a gift certificate raffle at both locations.
All proceeds will go toward supporting the four K-9 deputies and their handlers in the unit.

Two handlers and their dogs will be at each location Saturday.

The K-9 Unit is comprised of the Bloodhounds: Jiggs and his handler James Stevens, Elvis and his handler Christopher Bowles and Peter and his handler Chad Hunt; and Belgin Malinois Sam and his handler Roddie White.

The proceeds will go to purchase stab and ballistic vests, tracking software, temperature monitoring and alert systems for K-9 patrol cars, climate-controlled kennels, training leads and trauma kits for the K-9 deputies.
