COVINGTON- An attempted murder suspect in a case out of Escambia County in Florida was arrested by deputies last week, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

On June 18, 2015, deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office assisted Escambia County Florida with the apprehension of a fleeing attempted murder suspect.

According to a press release from Deputy Felicia Jefferson, NCSO deputies acted on information that the suspect may be en route to a location off of Harold Dobbs Road in a gray Chevy truck. While en route to that location, deputies observed the vehicle and were able to intercept it at the Marathon Gas Station on Crowell Road.

The suspect, 46-year-old Carl DeWayne Scott of Pensacola, Florida, was arrested and taken into custody as he exited the store without incident.

Scott was transported to the Newton County Jail where he remains awaiting extradition.
