Phones at the Newton County Sheriff’s Office were ringing off the hook around 6 p.m. Monday, when several people driving down Ga. Highway 81 noticed a man with no clothes on walking down the street.
Deputies from the NCSO were called to the location, where they had no problems locating 39-year-old Terry Womack, who was still walking down the street, naked and smoking a cigarette.
According to NCSO Public Information Officer Lt. Tyrone Oliver, Womack appeared to be under the influence of some sort of narcotic and could not be understood because of his mumbling.
He was arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center where he was charged with public indecency and cruelty to children in the third degree. The child cruelty charge stems from one caller informing authorities her juvenile child was in the car with her when they passed Womack.
