COLLEGE PARK - Authorities say a mother and her 4-year-old daughter have died after an apartment fire in south Fulton County.

The fire was at the Camelot Apartments near Old National Highway.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the child died at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, and the mother died at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Authorities say a man was also taken to Grady for treatment of burns to his arm.

Fulton County Fire Deputy Chief Jack Butler told WSB-TV that thermal imaging cameras were used to see through thick smoke to find and rescue the woman and her daughter.

Investigators say at least seven apartments were affected. The American Red Cross is assisting some of the victims.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
