A fed-up mother called authorities on her adult son Wednesday for smoking marijuana in her home.
According to reports from the Newton County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to the home around noon and spoke with the homeowner. She told them that her son was upstairs in his bedroom smoking marijuana and "stinking up the house." As deputies entered the home they could reportedly smell the odor of burnt marijuana.
She called her son, Christopher Artis, downstairs and when deputies asked him if he was smoking, he allegedly admitted he was, saying he "just got done smoking a joint."
He told deputies he had no more marijuana, but when his mother gave them permission to search his room he allegedly admitted he had more on the bed, then walked over to the bed and handed the deputies a glass jar with what appeared to be marijuana inside.
Artis was arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center where he was charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
