On April 15, local flower and container shop Molly’s relocated from Floyd Street to Usher Street in Covington next to Ramsey’s Produce.

“We were on Floyd Street for six years,” owner Molly Shapvler said. “A new owner of the shop came, so I had to relocate, and I am now renting from Sam Ramsey.”

Molly’s may be known mostly around the community for its great flowers, but Shapvler does lot more than just specialize in flowers. a

“I’m in the container business,” Shapvler said. “People will bring in their containers to me and when I plant the flowers, I put the seeds in to help it look more creative. I love making the containers because I like to paint and it’s like painting.”

Although Molly’s is well known for flowers, there’s one type of flower in particular the shop specializes in.

“They are mainly outdoor flowers” Shapvler said. “I will work with, and sell, indoor flowers, but I really prefer that the flowers would be for outdoors.”

Even though Molly’s is open for business, this will not be an every week of the year operation. “This is seasonal,” Shapvler said. “I plan on closing around June and I’ll more than likely re-open around September. I do this because it gives the flowers a chance to come in right around their season time and they’ll come out more beautiful.”

Molly’s is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
