Missing man Galanty found by NCSO

Update, 5:47 p.m.: Missing person Harry Preston Galanty was located by the Newton County Sheriff's Office around 4:15 p.m. this afternoon.

"He is OK and has been checked into a local Atlanta area hospital," said 1st Lt. Mark Mitchell.

Galanty, 54, was first reported missing Halloween morning.

Original story: The Newton County Sheriff's Office has issued a statewide Mattie's call for a missing 54-year-old cognitively impaired male by the name of Harry Galanty. A group home where Galanty resides reported the man missing when they discovered he had walked away from their Fairview Road location sometime after 8 a.m. Oct. 31.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue plaid flannel jacket, white shoes and broken eye glasses. Galanty is described as a white male, 6-feet-tall, 120 lbs. with brownish blonde hair.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts or who has contact with this missing person is strongly urged to contact 911 or the Newton County Sheriff's Office with this information at (678) 625-1421 or (678) 625-1401.
