Missing disabled teen found near home

Update, 10:39 a.m. - The missing girl, Antonia Carpintero, was located near her residence and is doing well, according to 1st Lt. Mark Mitchell of the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

Original story: The Newton County Sheriff's Office has issued a statewide Mattie's call for a missing 19-year-old disabled female by the name of Antonia Carpintero. The family reported the female missing when they discovered she had walked away from their East End Road residence sometime during the early morning hours of September 17.

Carpintero is mentally disabled and is also hearing and speech impaired. She was last seen wearing a peach colored t-shirt, khaki shorts and is possibly carrying a blue blanket. Antonia Carpintero is described as a Hispanic female, 4' 4", 95 pounds, light skinned with long black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts or who has contact with this missing person is strongly urged to contact the Newton County Sheriff's Office with this information at (678) 625-1421.
