Here’s a chance for moms and dads to be the coolest parents around — at least for a day.

The popular character “Mike the Knight” from the children’s TV network Nick Jr., will make an appearance Saturday at the Mall at Stonecrest.

“Mike the Knight” is a TV series for preschoolers in which the young knight seeks adventure alongside his two dragon friends, Sparkie and Squirt.

On Saturday at noon and again at 2 p.m., children can participate in a free, fun-filled “mission throughout the mall” to find a hidden treasure alongside Mike.

A car show and employee recognition event that was scheduled in May but canceled due to bad weather has been rescheduled for this Sunday on the Covington square.

The event will take place between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. At 2 p.m., employees who have been with Newton County for 15 years or more will be recognized.

The car show will feature approximately 150 vehicles from around the state.

The event is hosted by Commissioner Lanier Sims.
