Man uses choir as cover for drug deal

When officers confronted a man about what they thought was a drug deal in front of S&S Package Store, he denied it, saying he had been chatting with the other man about his church choir.

Reports indicate that officers first noticed Micha Lynn Davis when he walked up to a car parked on the side lot of the package store, spoke briefly with the man inside the vehicle, exchanged something by hand and then walked away. They then watched as Davis walked to the front of the store and got into a vehicle there.

When officers approached Davis and asked what he'd been doing on the side of the store, he reportedly said he was talking to someone in his church choir, but when asked, he was not able to tell officers what that choir member's name was.

After asking him directly if he had drugs on him, Davis allegedly admitted that there were drugs in the center console of the vehicle and officer's located the marijuana just where he said it would be.

Davis was arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center where he was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
