An elderly man was reportedly robbed at gunpoint while walking down Ga. Highway 81 Monday afternoon.
According to reports, the 53-year-old man met deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Department at a gas station in the area and reportedly told them he was walking north on Ga. Highway 81 at around 4:15 p.m. and right before Salem Road a black Monte Carlo occupied by two black males pulled up alongside him.
He allegedly told deputies that the men jumped out of the vehicle, one grabbed him from behind while the other reportedly shoved a chrome automatic pistol in his face. They reportedly took $389 from the victim’s pocket and fled toward Ga. Highway 162.
According to the victim, one man was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, white Nikes and a sock hat and had gold teeth. The other had on a black shirt, blue jeans and brown dress shoes. The black Monte Carlo was an older model with black interior and t-tops.
