A Covington man remains in jail after being charged with molesting a 6-year-old girl.

David Leonard Williams, 25, was arrested last Thursday and charged with child molestation, cruelty to children in the first degree and false imprisonment following an initial investigation.

According to Newton County Sheriff's Office Lt. Tyrone Oliver, the child told her mother that Williams, who is not a stranger to the child, had molested her. The investigation into the allegations continues.
